We all know Xiaomi has taken over the Indian market in the lower-midrange smartphone segment. The Redmi Note 4 was a huge hit, which Indians bought like a hotcake. Although the release of Redmi Note 5 stays out of the picture, the company has started sending media invites for a launch happening on February 14.
Despite the isolated criticisms, the company has gone on to become one of the most popular brands in India. They even began plants for the indigenous manufacturing of phones and power banks here.

In China, the company released two variants; Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. Both the smartphones run on MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat. When it comes down to the specifications, they sport a 5.7-inch HD+ display and a 5.99-inch full-HD+ screen respectively with 18:9 aspect ratio. Underneath the hood, the Redmi 5 packs in a Snapdragon 450 processor whereas Redmi 5 Plus does Snapdragon 625 chipset.
As for the RAM and internal memory, there are 2GB/ 3GB/ 4GB RAM and 16GB/ 32GB inbuilt storage available for Redmi 5 in China. The higher variant, 5 Plus features 3GB/ 4GB RAM and 32GB/ 64GB of inbuilt storage.

We anticipate Xiaomi to bring 2GB RAM/ 16GB storage, 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage, and the 4GB RAM/ 32GB storage variants to India. Nonetheless, it is unclear whether or not they introduce Redmi 5 Plus here.
Quoting the Chinese price, the 2 GB variant of Redmi 5 comes at CNY 799 (roughly Rs. 8,100) whereas the 3 GB at CNY 899 (about Rs. 9100). Last month, they released a 4 GB version as well with a price tag of CNY 1099 (around 11200 INR). The Redmi 5 Plus’s 3 GB and 4 GB variants bear a price of CNY 999 (roughly Rs. 10,200) and CNY 1,299 (roughly Rs. 13,200) respectively in China.
