Xiaomi has announced the latest smart fitness band in its Mi lineup. The latest one from Xiaomi, as expected, is named as the Mi Band 4. From the outside, you might not notice a big difference between Mi Band 3 and Mi Band 4. However, there are few subtle changes made to Mi Band 4 from its predecessor.
Apart from the minor changes, Mi Band 4 also has a major change in its display. For the first time ever, Mi Band 4 comes with a colored AMOLED display. Previously, we only had monochrome displays on the first three generations of Mi Band lineup.
Xiaomi Mi Band 4 with 0.95-inch AMOLED display and 20-day battery life comes at just CNY 169 (~Rs. 1700)
Xiaomi’s Mi Band lineup has gained quite the momentum in the recent years. Since the Mi Band 2 was launched, there has been a huge demand for this smart fitness band. However, the popularity reached an all-new high when the Mi Band 3 was launched in China, and then in India later.
This year marks a big change in the Mi Band lineup as Xiaomi has finally decided to put a colored display on this fitness band. Xiaomi’s reasoning for not including a colored display on previous Mi Band devices was to increase the battery life.
However, this time around the company has promised the same battery life as earlier by increasing the battery capacity. One noticeable change to the Mi Band 4 design is that there was a pit at the end of its display for navigation. Now, that has been changed and the display is curved with an on-screen circle at its end.
Same as Mi Band 3, Xiaomi’s Mi Band 4 also comes with 2.5D curved glass protection. However, we feel that the display on the Mi Band 4 could and should have been bigger than its predecessor. Also, Mi Band 4 now supports accepting payments via QR codes. You can choose from 77 different watch faces on this fitness band.
It has a built-in microphone as well for the first time ever which helps you send commands to connected devices for voice-related actions. But one of the major reason why people love the Mi Band lineup is because of its pricing. And Xiaomi has not disappointed us this time around too. The Mi Band 4 starts at just 169 Yuan in China which roughly translates to Rs. 1700 in India.
However, Xiaomi also has an NFC-enabled Mi Band 4 priced at 229 (~Rs. 2300) Yuan whereas an Avengers limited edition Mi Band 4 comes at 349 Yuan (~Rs. 3500). For now, Xiaomi has not revealed any information about global pricing and the release date for India.
