Vivo V9 India Launch Set for Today; Packs in a 6.3-inch Display with Notch and AI-Based Features

Vivo has launched their new smartphone V9 globally yesterday (22-03-2018). Unlike the past offerings, they are bringing it to India without any delay. The launch event will begin on 12 PM today and you can watch it live on both Facebook and WhatsApp.

Even before the launch, we knew there was something Vivo had to offer. They teased the launch on all the social media platforms and even major e-commerce platforms have put the device for pre-orders.

Vivo to Launch V9 (with Notch Design) in India Today

You might have already heard of the notch-obsession in the smartphone world. It was Essential Phone that started the trend. Once Apple followed almost the same design profile for the iPhone X, the notch above the display has started a becoming a standard, it seems.

The latest addition to the list of a notch-carrying device is, of course, the Vivo V9. When we go down to the specs, it bears a 6.3-inch LCD display with 2280x 1080 pixels resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Although there are many who just hate the notch, Vivo says it had helped them achieve 90% screen-to-body ratio.

V9 is Vivo’s flagship device and for the same reason, you will be surprised to know it has only Snapdragon 626 processor under the hood. There’s a 4 GB RAM to accompany the processor and you can expand the 64 GB internal storage using an external SD card.

As for the optics, the latest Vivo device features a dual camera setup on the rear with 16 MP primary and 5 MP secondary sensors. Just like most of the dual cameras, the secondary sensor captures the depth details to effectively depict bokeh effect. Vivo has integrated AI features to enhance the camera performance.

You all know Vivo has a reputation of concentrating more on their front camera. They haven’t dropped the tradition this time around as well. The V9 has a whopping 24-MP selfie camera with AI Face Beauty functionality to bring your real beauty to the screen (as the company says).

We think they won’t go above Rs. 25000 for the pricing. Given Vivo V7 is sitting at around Rs. 18000, it’s possible. As we compare the underneath specs of the already-available devices in the same price range, we may want to skip the latest device. Then again, it’s the personal priority that matters.

In case you think this is the model with an in-display fingerprint scanner, this is not! You have to wait a bit to see it in India. We have already covered about Vivo X20 here.
