Pre-Requirements to update Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 to Android 4.0.4 ICS

As we are now going to update Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 to Android 4.0.4 ICS, you should take care about your mobile and phone data. Follow below mentioned simple steps to be on safe side

  • Double check that your mobile is charged at least to 80%, in case if you started this update process when your mobile battery is less than 40%, update process will interrupted and your mobile will be useless
  • If Samsung Kies is installed on your system, we recommend to uninstall it and restart your PC
  • Ensure you have installed with latest version of cable drivers and you are ready with Data cable
  • Make sure you have recent backup for all contacts, apps, bookmarks, messages, settings etc

  • You must turn on USB debugging on your device. You can do this at Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging

How to update Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 to Android 4.0.4 ICS

Here is step by step tutorial to update Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 to Android 4.0.4 ICS. Never think updating is a risky task, it is easy as 1 2 3 if you follow all steps in proper manner

  1. Root your Samsung Galaxy Y (Mandatory Thing) (Rooting guide)
  2. Install ClockWorkMod on Samsung Galaxy Y. Failed to follow these steps ( Step 1 and Step 2), your mobile is not eligible for installing custom ROM and finally you will end with bricked mobile.

Download the ROM file from below link

  1. Download the updated rooting stuff form HERE (Updated Link) and save it on your desktop. This file is a Zip file and no need to extract it
  1. Now connect your mobile using USB cable and copy the downloaded file in root folder of memory card
  2. Now, disconnect your mobile from PC and Switch it off
  3. Press and hold Power button, Volume up Button and Home Button until you entered in to Recovery mode
  4. Earlier if you have installed any ROM on your mobile you need to wipe it. In Backup and restore option select Wipe Date using volume keys. This will completely remove the old ROM from your device
  5. Now using Volume up and down keys select the download zip (in Step 1) in your memory card
  6. Immediately mobile will start updating process and it will complete in 3-5 mins and by using go back option select reboot on home screen

    I REALLY need help from someone. ANYONE! I have ClockWorkMod and I found Backup and Restore, but there are just some backups I don’t even need anymore. There, it just says like:

    I don’t see anything that has something to do with “Wipe”! Please help pleaseeeeee!!!!!! Actually, my phone is half-bricked, because it won’t start Android 4.4.3 I currently have on it. It just starts the CWM. I hope that’s enough.

    In my previous comment I said sites like these are rubbish and I wish to correct that it is informative an useful on alot of topics I just feel that when it starts to advise on reprogramming your handsets that it is not being of mind that alot of people are goin to make mistakes and really mess or shut there phones down with no going bk so beware if you are not an expert who fully comprehends what to do just leave alone you might regret it an end up having to buya new phone

    I have samsung young at moment an as for upgrades an rooting I dont know why people feel the need for this once done even success fully there will be aspects that do not work asvthey should or did before my advice get a better phone or leave things be its a good little phone an you risk all that wen u dont need too an sites like this are a load of rubbish stay away

      i found the solution. Just go into recovery and factory reset your phone. Then reboot. It should work without errors. The same happened to me.

    Hi Amar,
    I have successfully upgraded my galaxy y. But, I do not see the notifications in my status bar. The settings are right. I feel the notifications are not aligned properly. Have you faced this issue before? Any suggestions? If I’m not able to fix this, I am thinking of reverting back to custom ROM.

      go to the download mode and flash the rom with odni
      u can get into download mode by pressing volume down middle button and power all at a time…
      and select continue..datzz it
      now connect it to pc.
      wait till it turns yellow and press start

      I also faced the same issue. I followed Nil’s instructions and it worked just fine.

    it is for the one who are stuck on your logo screen. you all stuck because you have not rooted your phone before installing ICS. the fault is all yous and dont blame now you can flash your phone with odin flasher or any other flasher u find on internet!

    this is not the official ICS update from google.. its just a themed gingerbread.. so be careful!! don’t f******g blame the author! it is your fault!

    it’s not really an ics update. it’s just a heavily modded gingerbread rom that is made to look like ics. even the android version was changed to make it appear like it’s an ics version… be careful of doing this if you don’t know how to reflash your phone back to the original stock rom.

After rebooting I strucked at the samsung galaxy y yung s5360 screen. after that nothing happend. I restarted the phone for several time. But no use. IS there any suggestions

      Hi. Just go to the same screen (you used to install the zip) and choose wipe data twice. It works.

    Great tutorial and help here, thank God you were able to lay bare the process in its entirety as i almost destroy my Samsung Galaxy when trting to use a different guide elsewhere, yours worked fine for me
