2. Send Email to Airtel DTH Customer Care

Another way to temporarily suspend or deactivate the Airtel DTH connection is by sending a written email to digitaltv@airtel.com

Subject: Requesting Temporary Deactivation of my Airtel DTH Connection

Respected Sir,

3. Don’t Pay the Bill, Simple!

There is yet another way to temporarily deactivate your Airtel DTH account. Though this sounds funny, you can just stop paying the bill, and you won’t have to worry about contacting customer care! When you are back from your vacation, recharge your account with Rs. 100 to resume the Airtel DTH connection immediately. Please note, this only works if you have a limited balance in your Airtel DTH account.

For example, if your remaining balance is Rs. 50, your account will be deactivated automatically after 3-5 days depending on your monthly plan. However, if your account has a high balance like Rs. 500 or more, it is better to contact customer care or write an email to the support team to temporarily hold your Airtel DTH account.

However, there are some penalty charges that you need to consider.

If you have a monthly plan amounting to 350 INR or more, you will need to pay 20 INR after the break period. Moreover, if you have a monthly plan of less than 350 INR, you will be charged 15 INR.

Now, if there is an activity for 720 days (2 years) or more, then the account will be considered inactive. Moreover, any remaining credits or balance will expire. If you don’t want to lose your credits or balance in your account, please ensure to pay the minimum amount so that your Airtel DTH connection will be inactive status.

If your account is not activated for more than 2 years, you are charged 150 INR  to reactivate your Airtel DTH connection.

Conclusion

These are the 3 official ways to temporarily deactivate or suspend your Airtel DTH connection. Now, you can go on the desired trip without worrying about money wastage. It would be really great if Airtel automates this process via their app, IVR, or website similar to Tata Sky. Also, the charges for temporarily deactivating the Airtel DTH connection sound unfair to me where Tata Sky does the same for free of cost.

I hope Airtel soon will automate the temporary deactivation process and reduce/void the charges for the same.
