No matter how popular their flagship devices are, Samsung always struggled to get on a par with the Chinese manufacturers. Recently, we have seen Xiaomi coming up with their next iteration of Note devices.
On a counter move, Samsung launched Galaxy J7 Prime 2 in India. As the name indicates, it is the updated version of the first generation J7 Prime.
Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 Launched in India
Although the news is all over the social media, the company hasn’t officially conducted an event to launch the device. Neither did they announce if or when the phone goes live on the market. In an unexpected move, the Samsung India has silently listed the phone on their phone with almost all the details. On the listing, the phone carries ‘Sold out’ tag. In case you are interested, there is a Notify me button.
As for the specs, Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime 2 features a 5.5-inch TFT full HD display. Measuring 8-mm thickness and a weight of 170 grams, the device runs on an unspecified version of Android. We are not sure whether or not they will release the device with the latest edition, Oreo.
Underneath the hood, it has an Exynos 7 series octa-core chipset clocked at 1.6 GHz. Given the clock speed, we think they will include the same processor found on the predecessor. The RAM also stays the same (3 GB). The company hasn’t responded to the sudden and silent listing, though. The single SIM device carries 32 GB internal memory and you can expand it up to 256 GB using an SD card.

When it comes to the camera, the J7 Prime 2 sports 13-MP sensors on both rear and the front. You don’t always see a selfie-focused Samsung phone and this is such a rare offering. The company has also made the camera social-friendly by adding features like filters, live stickers, instant edit, and share.
The Galaxy J7 Prime 2 carries a 3300 mAh battery. To recall, Samsung was always hesitant to put all the necessary sensors on their budget offerings. So, we don’t expect them to go otherwise here. The fingerprint scanner is available on the rear along with proximity sensor and accelerometer.
The official listing revealed the pricing as Rs. 13990. We have to wait until the official launch to know the final amount.
