Samsung has launched its Galaxy S21 series in a Galaxy Unpacked 2021 event. The latest S21 series continues the company’s tradition of launching three models in its flagship series. The Galaxy S21 consists of the regular Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra. All three models feature an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and a new camera housing, called “Contour Cut Camera”.
The Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy S21+ share an identical design at the back with a triple rear camera setup. While the Ultra variant houses an extra telephoto sensor. Moreover, the Galaxy S21 Ultra also comes with S Pen support. The entire Galaxy S21 series includes an IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.
Galaxy S21 and S21+ Specifications
The Galaxy S21 features a 6.2-inch, while the S21+ has a 6.7-inch Full-HD+ display. Both come with the same resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. It has a Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O Display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display also comes with HDR10+ certification, Samsung’s Eye Comfort Shield, and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. The refresh rate can be dropped to as low as 48Hz.
Under the hood, both are powered by an octa-core Exynos 2100 SoC. The company mentioned, the device would be available with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 in the US. It is paired with an 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB internal storage.
In the optics department, the Galaxy S21 and S21+ houses a triple rear camera setup that includes a 12MP sensor with an ultra-wide-angle with f/2.2 aperture and an FoV (field-of-view) of 120-degrees.
It has a 12MP lens with a Dual Pixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. Additionally, a 64MP sensor with phase detection autofocus, hybrid optic 3x zoom, and FoV of 76-degrees with OIS (optical image stabilization).
On the front, both feature a 10MP camera sensor at the front. The lens has an f/2.2 aperture and FoV of 80-degrees.
The company has added an upgraded camera app, that features 8K Snap, Director’s View, Super Steady Video, and Single Take. Also when paired with the new Galaxy Buds Pro, it can record ambient sounds and your voice simultaneously using pre-loaded multiple mics.
Both devices shipped with a 4,000mAh battery, while the Galaxy S21+ has a 4,800mAh battery. Both supports USB PD 3.0 fast charging. It also supports Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 at 10W as well as Wireless PowerShare for reverse wireless charging.
Galaxy S21 Ultra Specifications
Similar to the other two models, the Galaxy S21 Ultra features an advanced 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ with a resolution of 1,440×3,200 pixels. The display has a Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O Display with HDR10+ support. It has a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that can go down up to 10Hz.
Additionally, the display is equipped with Wacom’s technology to support the S Pen. Also, users can use their existing S Pen from their Galaxy Note or Galaxy Tab or can purchase an S Pen with an S21 Ultra compatible case.
It is powered by an octa-core Exynos 2100 SoC. However, it would ship with the Snapdragon 888 in the US. It has 12GB and 16GB LPDDR5 RAM options and up to 512GB onboard storage.
On the camera department, It flaunts a quad rear camera setup. It has a 108MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture with OIS support, a 12MP Dual Pixel sensor with an f/2.2 lens aperture, a 10MP sensor with an f/2.4 telephoto lens with support of supports 3x optical zoom, and another 10MP telephoto sensor with an f/4.9 aperture with 10x optical zoom support. Both telephoto lenses support OIS. Moreover, the camera supports 100X Space Zoom.
For selfies, it has a 40-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 lens aperture.
The S21 Ultra packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports USB PD 3.0 and Wireless Charging 2.0 for fast wired and wireless charging.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 series runs on Android 11 with One UI on top. Security features include in all three devices are; Samsung Knox Vault, Ultrasonic Fingerprint, Face recognition, Samsung Pass, Private Share, and Samsung Blockchain Keystore. Connectivity options include 5G (NSA and SA both), 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C port (with DisplayPort support).
Price and Availability
The Samsung S21 starts from Rs 69,999 for the base 8GB/128GB variant, the S21+ starts at Rs 81,999 for the same 8GB/128GB model. Whereas the top of the premium S21 Ultra starts at Rs 1,05,999. You can check out the price chart of the Galaxy S21 series below.
The Pre-orders of the Galaxy S21 series will start on January 15. Also, pre-order customers will get a Galaxy SmartTag, which was also launched at the event, and a Rs 10,000 Samsung Shop voucher. Which would be redeemable against a Galaxy Watch Active 2 or a Galaxy Buds+ with a Travel Adapter.
Pre-order customers get delivery from January 25, whereas regular sales start from January 29 via Samsung.com, Amazon India, and Flipkart, and as well as via offline retail stores.
