Samsung is launching their Galaxy A8+ smartphone’s 2018 edition here in India today. The company is conducting an event in New Delhi today for the launch. Going with the past trends, we anticipate the new device to be a mid-ranger.
Amazon India already started teasing the phone with infinity display. So, it will be an Amazon exclusive and there is a chance for Samsung to sell the all-new A8+ through their e-stores as well.
Samsung to Launch the New Galaxy A8+ in India Today
Ever since Samsung launched S8, they grabbed tons of Infinity screen fans. That along with the new arrivals to the mid-range segment with 18:9 near bezel-less display compelled the company to bring the same display to a much more affordable price segment. Thus they released A8+ back in December 2017, which in fact, carried a similar screen from S8.
The company sent invites to the media last week itself without mentioning the name of the device. However, they broke the silence through the official Indian Twitter handle of the company. We got to know the upcoming device is Galaxy A8+ (2018).
When it comes to the specs, the phone sports a 6-inch full HD+ display. Of course, they brought the infinity screen to the smartphone and it boasts an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. We have seen many companies migrating to 18:9 display ratio last year. Although the name of the device has gone public, they didn’t tell anything about the chipset inside. All we know is it packs an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2 GHz coupled with 6 GB RAM. You will get the option to expand the 64 GB storage up to 256 GB using an external SD card.
As for the optics, the rear camera features a 16 MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture, LED flash, and phase detection autofocus technology. Up front, A8+ has a dual camera setup with 16 and 8 MP sensors of f/1.9 aperture.
The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. We might see a low end 4 GB/ 32 GB variant of A8+ as well. All these will be powered by a 3500 mAh battery that supports fast charging.
Converting the price in Vietnam to Indian rupees, the device costs about Rs. 38000. With this price, it competes against the likes of OnePlus 5T, Google Pixel 2, Nokia 8, and LG G6. They might unveil a few offers in the form of no-cost EMIs and bundled data packs too.
We need to wait and see how Samsung strives to sell the device in big numbers especially when the competitors are so popular.
