Realme Started Inviting Beta Testers for Project X; Realme OS coming?

Rahul Krishnan • Updated August 1, 2019 • 3 min read • Leave a Comment

We know Realme is a subsidiary of Oppo even though they repeatedly say they are an independent brand. Oppo’s ColorOS is what Realme uses for their devices. Their CEO has hinted earlier about their intent to come up with their own UI.

The company has started taking beta users for a mysterious Project X. The company hasn’t broken its silence on the matter. Chances are it will be an own interface for the Realme phones. The rumor is that the OS will resemble OnePlus’s OxygenOS.

Realme Calling Beta Testers for Project X

The company CEO Madhav Sheth has called for beta testers on Twitter. He hasn’t revealed what the mysterious project is. Not every Realme user can’t go on signing up to become a beta user. Only those who own a Realme 3 Pro get the privilege to do so. We are not yet sure about the arrival of Realme OS though. It may simply be new ColorOS based on Android Q.

In order to sign up for the beta program, one must have experience in beta testing pre-release software and reporting bugs. Moreover, they also need you to agree to a non-disclosure agreement. In case you can’t express the feedbacks and bugs in English language, better you omit the program.

Realme has filed a trademark application in the United Kingdom earlier this year. In an attempt to shift away from Oppo to become an independent brand, we think the arrival of an own UI is also a possibility we can’t ignore.

Those who want to join the beta program, you will have to fill a Google form. Due to a limited number of available spots, you may not get a chance to sign up by the time you are reading this article.

The details available online about Realme OS are pretty narrow. We can expect a huge design overhaul. Due to the immense popularity of OxygenOS, chances are the new interface carries a few features and similarity to the same.

To recall, the last Realme smartphone that hit the market is Realme X. The device features a 6.53-inch AMOLED display with no notch. Underneath the hood, you get Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset coupled with 4/ 6/ 8 GB RAM and up to 128 GB internal storage.

As for the optics, the rear dual camera setup houses a 48 MP main sensor alongside a 5 MP depth sensor. The selfie camera measures 16 MP in resolution. The fingerprint scanner resides under the display and the 3765 mAh battery supports 20 W Vooc 3.0 charging.
