Realme has announced the Realme 8 5G variant this week as promised in India. The device debuted a day before in Thailand i.e., on April 21. Besides, the 5G variant of the 8 series is an upgrade to the previously launched 4G variant that had an Helio G95 processor. Although, the design of the device has not changed much but a few key differences are found.
This newly brought 5G variant in the 8 Series features MediaTek’s new Dimensity 700 processor under the hood. The upgraded features on the new 5G variant include a new technology of Dynamic RAM expansion. The Dynamic RAM Expansion (DRE) technology will convert the built-in storage into virtual RAM.
Realme 8 5G Specifications
Realme 8 sports a 6.5-inch full-HD+ Dragontrail protected display with a 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. The LCD supports a 90Hz refresh rate, a 20:9 aspect ratio with 600 nits of peak brightness.
Besides, A MediaTek Dimensity 700 Chipset powers device coupled with ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Under the hood, the 5G variant has up to 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM with DRE technology which converts the storage into virtual RAM for smoother multitasking.
The camera module present on the 5G variant is a triple rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens. A 2-megapixel monochrome depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture and a 2-megapixel tertiary shooter with an f/2.4 macro lens.
The front-facing camera is a 16-megapixel sensor for Portrait, Nightscape selfies, and video calling. The rear camera features Nightscape, 48M Mode, Pro Mode, AI Scan, and Super Macro.
The connectivity features for the device include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v5.1, GPS/ A-GPS, and a USB Type-C port. Realme didn’t skip on any sensors and provided an accelerometer, ambient light, magnetometer, and proximity sensor.
Although, the fingerprint sensor is placed on the side and the dimensions of the device are 162.5×74.8×8.5mm and weigh 185 grams. Besides, the battery capacity is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W Quick Charge.
Price and Availability
Realme 8 5G comes for a starting pricing of Rs. 14,999 for the 4GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant gets a price tag of Rs. 16,999. The 5G variant flaunts two unique color options which are Supersonic Black and Supersonic Blue.
This 5G smartphone goes for sale from April 28 at 12 PM Noon on Flipkart, Realme.com, and other offline retail stores in India. Besides, the European variant of Realme 8 5G will go on sale from May with a price tag of EUR 199.
