Qualcomm Confirms Next OnePlus Device OnePlus 3T Coming with Snapdragon 821

Rahul Krishnan • Updated November 10, 2016 • 3 min read •

The OnePlus 3 is still one of the hotcakes. When we consider sub 30k margin, OnePlus 3 takes a huge leap in terms of specifications and performance.

A few weeks ago, some tech magazines reported that OnePlus is about to halt the production of their new device. Everyone thought they were insane given the device is a huge hit.

Then came the fact! They are going to launch a new device with superior specs.

Qualcomm Confirms Next OnePlus Device with Snapdragon 821

It was Qualcomm who broke the ice. They tweeted out the arrival of a new OnePlus device with their brand-new SnapDragon 821 processor (The same you saw on Google’s Pixel series).

Once Qualcomm came up with the slight revelation, OnePlus itself broke their silence. The company wasn’t ready to reveal much. You can read the exact tweet below.

Something new from @OnePlus is on the way…and it’s powered by our #Snapdragon 821 processor. Stay tuned. pic.twitter.com/3jOyZFRQ5t

Although they unveiled the launch date, the name of the device is still in the darkness. You can see a video embedded to their tweet. And, they have highlighted the letter ‘T’ in it. So, the name of the device may be OnePlus 3T as the leaks claim.

Yeah, it is not OnePlus 4. The next device from the company is an upgraded version of their current flagship.

The speculations said that they are going to ditch AMOLED panel and opting for an LCD one. But the CEO of the company denied it with the assurance that the next device will sport an optic OLED display.

The build and design will remain the same along with the dash charging support. When it comes to OS, the new phone brings Android Nougat based Oxygen OS into the market as compared to Marshmallow on its predecessor.

The other features are unknown. We have got a chance to have a look at a few leaks, though. The main feature as per a leak is the change of camera sensor. They may opt for the new 16 megapixel Sony IMX398 sensor.

OnePlus 3 is available only in 64 GB storage category whereas its successor will be rumored to come in both 64 and 128 GB. The 6 GB RAM remains the same. You get a chance to buy the new device in black color as well.

The next upgrade is in the battery department. The leaks point to the presence of a 3300 mAh battery as compared to the 3000 mAh in the previous one. Given that the device has much-celebrated Dash Charging, the extra mAh of the battery is a good move from a user’s perspective.

What about the price, then? As you may guess, OnePlus 3T will cost you more than that of OnePlus 3. Quoting the rumors, you have to spend almost $80 more ($480 or Rs. 32000 to be precise) more.

For the final information, you should wait until November 15 for the official launch.
