OnePlus has launched their latest flagship 6T at an event in New York yesterday (29-10-2018). As you know it is an incremental upgrade to the predecessor OnePlus 6. We have been seeing the ‘T’ edition for the last two generations.
Although underneath specifications haven’t changed, we can spot a few physical upgrades on 6T from OnePlus 6. Under-screen fingerprint scanner, teardrop notch, and larger display are a few of them.
OnePlus 6T Specifications and Price
OnePlus 6T features a 6.41-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The teardrop notch on top houses the front facing camera, ambient light sensor, RGB and distance sensor. Under the hood, the device packs in the same Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 6 or 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
As for the optics, it has a dual camera setup on the back consisting of a 16 MP Sony IMX519 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture alongside a 20 MP Sony IMX376K secondary sensor of f/1.7 aperture. You can shoot 4K videos at 60fps and super slow motion videos (1080p at 240fps). The optical image stabilisation and electronic image stabilisation help stabilises your videos.
The front camera has a 16 MP Sony IMX371 sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The front camera also supports electronic image stabilisation. If you are observant enough, you know the camera remains unchanged from its predecessor.
OnePlus has included an improved lowlight photography feature named Nightscene. It can capture noiseless shots by using HDR algorithm with the help of 2 second exposure. What it does is combining 10 frames together to get the best result.
As you already read, under-screen fingerprint scanner is a significant feature on OnePlus 6T. The optical fingerprint sensor brightens up the screen in low light to read your fingers clearly. It works with company’s own screen protector but they didn’t guarantee the same with third-parties. The company claims it to unlock the phone in 0.4 seconds. You can choose from either 128 or 256 GB internal storage with no memory expansion.
Smart Boot feature on OnePlus 6T caches frequently used apps to improve the loading time. As of now, it only works with gaming applications. The 3700 mAh battery can deliver a day’s backup with only 30 minutes of charge.
The price starts from $549 (around Rs. 40,300) in the US for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage Mirror Black variant, with the 8GB+128GB Mirror Black and Midnight Black variant priced at $579 (around Rs. 42,500), and the 8GB+256GB Midnight Black variant priced at $629 (roughly Rs. 46,200).
