UK Based Start-Up Nothing, founded by Carl Pei, has announced its next smartphone, Nothing Phone 2, with notable upgrades on exterior and internals. The predecessor Phone (1) came with a Snapdragon 7-series chipset. However, this time the brand has used the flagship-grade Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, which will significantly improve the performance.
The Phone 2 features a newer version of the Glyph interface on the back which now supports third-party applications. These changes with the Glyph interface on the successor will show the progress of delivery on Swiggy and Zomato. The device will come with three years of Android OS updates and four years of security patch updates every two months.
Nothing Phone 2 Specifications
The Nothing Phone 2 sports a 6.7-inch full-HD+ LTPO OLED display with a screen resolution of 1,080 x 2,412 pixels. The display comes with the support of an adaptive refresh rate between 1Hz to 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, HDR 10+, and SGS Low Blue Light. An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset powers the device coupled with Adreno 730 GPU.
The camera setup on the Phone 2 comes with a dual camera system of 50MP sensors. The primary 50MP sensor comes with a 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX890 shooter. It comes with an f/1.88 aperture and optical image stabilization (OIS), and electronic image stabilization (EIS). The secondary 50MP sensor has a 114-degree ultra-wide lens with f/2.2 aperture.
The front-facing camera on the Nothing Phone 2 comes with a 32-megapixel sensor with an f/2.45 aperture for selfies and video calling. The storage provided on the device features up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. The updated Glyph interface will come with a progress bar to showcase battery levels and delivery progress from apps like Zomato and Swiggy.
The connectivity options on the device include WiFi 6, 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. GPS/A-GPS, NavIC, and a USB Type-C port. The sensor array of the Phone 2 feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, accelerometer, two ambient light sensors (front and rear), e-compass, gyroscope, and proximity sensor.
The battery pack of the handset comes with a 4,700mAh battery that supports 45W wired fast charging and 5W wireless charging.
Price and Availability
The Nothing Phone 2 starts at Rs. 44,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128 GB storage version. The 12 GB RAM with 256 and 512 GB storage costs Rs. 49,999 and Rs. 54,999 respectively. The device will flaunt in Dark Gray and White color shades. The device will go on sale officially from July 21 on Flipkart and other retail stores across India.
