Nokia restarted their phone journey by revamping the renowned 3310. We also reported that they are working on the 3G version of the feature phone. Then, they astonished us with three Android smartphones Nokia 3, 5, and 6.
Now they have come up with the most powerful smartphone ever in the history of the company, Nokia 8. They announced the smartphone yesterday (16/08/2017) and let’s have a look at its features and price.
Nokia 8 Launched with Snapdragon 835 and Dual Camera
Image source: intoday.inEven though the return of Nokia made many happy, their new smartphones didn’t. The company almost exploited the nostalgic feeling with below par specs. Every review said the phones are for those who really wanted a Nokia phone.
Let’s forget the price for now. After all, Nokia just launched an Android smartphone with the latest flagship processor.
Nokia 8 sports a unibody Aluminum design with a 5.3-inch quad HD display on the front, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The best thing about the design is beneath the hood, it has a copper pipe running from the upper right corner to the lower left with liquid evaporating feature in the middle. The company revealed that it helps efficiently dissipating the heat.
HMD Global has partnered with Carl Zeiss to develop a special camera for the device. It has two 13 MP sensors on the back; monochromatic and color. They haven’t gone behind in the megapixel count for the front camera as well. Both can shoot 4K videos and even features the ability to capture pictures and videos using front and back cameras at the same time. The camera interface includes two dedicated buttons to livestream your videos directly to Facebook or YouTube.

The high dynamic microphones on the smartphone allow surround sound recording. Nokia calls the technology Ozo audio algorithm.
As you already read, the device boasts a Snapdragon 835 underneath along with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory. You can expand the storage up to 256 GB using an SD card. They will release a single SIM and dual hybrid SIM options (depending upon the popularity in specific markets). The battery capacity is 3090 mAh.
Even though the company ships the smartphone with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, it is said that Nokia 8 will get Android O update pretty soon.
The price they announced is $599 (around 45000 INR). HMD Global hasn’t uttered anything about the price and launch date in India. We expect them to unveil Nokia 8 in India by the beginning of October.
