Nokia is catching up with the Android race. Due to their love of Windows Phone OS, they went back in sales numbers a few years ago. However, HMD Global has revamped the company by launching Android smartphones. As the name speaks for itself, HMD didn’t have to do much to increase the sales.
In an event the company conducted yesterday (04-10-2018) in London, they have launched Nokia 7.1, successor to the previous year’s Nokia 7. The device is a part of the Android Enterprise Recommended Range, which means it will get monthly security updates within 90 days of release for a minimum of three years.
Nokia 7.1 Launched with Snapdragon 636 SoC
When it comes to the specifications, the first thing you notice on the phone is the display. It features a 5.84-inch full HD+ display with PureDisplay panel and 19:9 aspect ratio. The screen also boasts Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection along with HDR10 support.
Underneath the hood, Nokia 7.1 packs in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC with 3/4 GB RAM. You will also get 32/64 GB of internal storage. The SoC isn’t strange to the Indians as we have seen it on Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 as well.
For the optics, it bears a vertical dual rear camera setup with a 12 megapixel primary sensor of f/1.8 aperture and autofocus, and another 5 megapixel secondary sensor of f/2.4 aperture and fixed focus. Along with Electronic Image Stabilisation, you will get two-phase detection and ZEISS optics for the rear cameras. Up front, Nokia 7.1 has an 8 megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture, 84 degrees field of view and fixed focus lens.
The device includes almost all the connectivity options including 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, WiFi 802.11ac, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C and a 3.5-mm headphone jack.
The battery capacity is 3060 mAh non-removable battery. The package bundles with 18W fast charger, which can deliver 50 percent charge in 30 minutes.
Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer of HMD Global told the media that they believed the best camera was the one we carry with us, so they’d designed a new imaging experience powered by ZEISS optics, featuring rapid auto focus thanks to the two-phase detection technology to capture our own incredible HDR photography. He added that they’re excited to deliver a unique, premium experience in collaboration with best in class partners to deliver standout smartphone at great value.
The device starts at a price of EUR 319 (around Rs. 27000) in Europe. You can bag it in two different colours; Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel.
