HMD Global has finally announced the much-awaited Nokia 7.1 powered by Android One for the Indian market. Earlier in October, HMD Global announced the Nokia 7.1 for the U.S. and European markets. Now, the company has decided to make it available for the Nokia fans in India as well. The latest smartphone in the Nokia lineup, the Nokia 7.1, will be available in India starting December 7. The smartphone will be available on all major outlets across India including Nokia.com/phones for a starting price of Rs. 19999
Nokia 7.1, the successor to the Nokia 7
Last year, HMD Global announced the Nokia 7 which was exclusive to Chinese markets only. Also, the Nokia 7 was not launched in the Android One program because of restrictions on Google in China. This time around, the Nokia 7.1 has been launched globally and is therefore available with Android One onboard. As far as the Nokia 7.1 is concerned, it has a glass construction at the back similar to most of the Nokia smartphones launched this year. The device looks and feels solid as it is an upper mid-range offering from the company. Nokia has added some features that make the Nokia 7.1 stand out of the rest in the competitive mid-range smartphone market of India such as HDR-10 support for its display and Zeiss Optics.
HDR-10 display, Zeiss Optics and Android Pie on the Nokia 7.1
Nokia has bundled support for HDR in Nokia 7.1’s display. The display on this smartphone is a 5.84-inch Full HD+ panel with support for HDR-10. Along with that, there is a notch at the top which extends the display to make it a bezel-less design. The Nokia 7.1 has an aspect ratio of 19:9 along with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The Nokia 7.1 comes powered by the Snapdragon 636 processor from Qualcomm which is a powerful SoC for mid-range devices. Also, the smartphone comes with up to 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 64GB of internal storage. Also, the internal storage of Nokia 7.1 can be expanded with the help of a microSD card up to 400GB.
In the camera department, the Nokia 7.1 has a Zeiss Optics powered Dual Camera setup having a 12MP primary and a 5MP depth sensor. Along with that is an 8MP selfie camera on the front resting inside the notch. The Nokia 7.1 also has a 3060 mAh non-removable battery which supports fast charging too. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box based on Google’s Android One program. However, the Android Pie update for Nokia 7.1 is already released by the company.
Nokia 7.1 is available for Rs. 19999 in India on all the major outlets including the Nokia store as well. The smartphone is available in two colours, Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel. The sales for the Nokia 7.1 in India will commence from December 7, 2018.
