Motorola used to have no convention of releasing many phones in a single year. But ever since Lenovo grabbed Motorola mobility, that convention became a history. They kept Motorola an authoritative brand without sacrificing the quality.
Yesterday (August 29, 2017), the company launched their latest offerings Moto G5S and G5S Plus here in India. Let’s have a look at whether or not they have something sturdy to bring to the table.
Lenovo Launched Moto G5S and G5S Plus with Dual Camera Setup in India
The company announced incremental upgrades to their Moto G5 series earlier in February at MWC 2017. We don’t know why they took this much time to bring those to India.
The inferior model, G5S comes with a 5.2-inch full HD display with a unibody metal design whereas the superior one has a 5.5-inch screen with 1080p resolution. Motorola doesn’t seem to join the bandwagon of bezel-less or 18:9 aspect ratio. Both the smartphones carry significant bezels on all the sides.

Underneath the hood, G5S packs in a Snapdragon 430 chipset coupled with a 4 GB RAM and 32 GB onboard internal storage. And, you can further expand it up to 128 GB using an external SD card. Moreover, it also has a 3000 mAh battery with turbo charging support. On the other hand, G5S Plus’s processing power is provided by Snapdragon 625 (the one we saw inside Xiaomi Redmi Note 4). It is available in two variants; 3GB RAM/ 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM/ 64 GB storage. Just like the G5S, you can use an external SD card to expand the storage up to 128 GB in this one as well.
Optics is the one area where things get interesting. Moto G5S has a 16 MP sensor on the back and a 5 MP sensor for the selfie camera. While Motorola closed their eyes towards the bezel-less trend, they took the dual-camera setup by their heart. The premium model G5S Plus features a dual camera setup with a monochrome and an RGB sensor on the back; both have 13 MP. On the front, it sports an 8 MP camera. Given the dual setup, it should give a depth of field effect or selective focus.
The Moto G5S is priced at Rs. 13,999 whereas the 64 GB variant of the G5S Plus has the price of Rs. 15,999. They even bring some launch offers including additional 50 GB data for Jio users.
