Indian Telecom giant Reliance JIo has launched an online grocery service called JioMart. The company has started delivering groceries in more than 200 towns across the country. The service is aimed at rivaling against other grocery websites.
To recall you, almost a month ago Jio dealt with Facebook, to empower JioMart via WhatsApp. The deal will help shop owners to come on the platform using and take direct order from consumers.
What is JioMart
JioMart is an e-commerce venture of Reliance. It offers online grocery delivery from neighborhood mom-and-pop stores to your home.
With the launch of JioMart, the website is now live and ready to take orders. Jio is giving offers to users who can pre-register on JioMart. Pre-registered users will get an additional benefit of worth Rs 3,000.
Groceries on JioMart
Opening the website and users will see a pop-up window asking about the pin-code. This will tell you whether the service has started in your area or not. The website looks pretty similar to an e-commerce website listing all the groceries with the price and extra off.
Users can buy Fruits and vegetables, dairy and bakery products, snacks, beverages, pet food, homecare, personal care and baby care products.
The website also claims it sources vegetables and fruits directly from the farmers. This means they are cutting the middleman and this will cost you lower than the regular price.
Moreover, one thing I noticed about JioMart is, if you purchase 1KG of apple or anything, the website will show you the estimated weight, price, and the bill. It shows the exact weight of the product you will receive. If it should weight as 987 grams (when you select 1 KG) then the product weight will receive is 987 grams, not one KG.
Payment and Delivery
Regarding payments, users can pay Cash on Delivery or Online. For online payment, users can pay Via NetBanking, Paytm, Phone Pay / UPI, JioMoney, and Mobikwik wallet. Currently, the website doesn’t support coupons code but maybe in future users could use coupons code for an additional discount. It takes a minimum of two days for delivery.
JioMart to give a strong competition against e-commerce giants such as Amazon and Flipkart. Both companies have struggled to serve their customers at the time of national lockdown.
JioMart comes at the time when we need online services, the company will also make things difficult for other online grocery delivery companies such as BigBasket and Grofers.
