JioBook is Jio’s upcoming affordable notebook/laptop for Indian consumers. Jio has revolutionized the 4G network with its low-cost data and free calling across India. The telecom company has launched a couple of feature phones as well which are JioPhone and JioPhone 2. Jio was very keen from the beginning to set a step in India’s Laptop market.
The low-cost laptop came into the news after a few months of launching their official JioPhone in the markets. In addition to this, Qualcomm has invested in Jio in the year 2020. The partnership made has given leads that they will announce an affordable 4G laptop: JioBook powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset under the hood.
JioBook 4G Laptop Rumored Specifications
JioBook as per reports from XDA will get powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 Chipset. This processor will make use of the Snapdragon X12 4G modem for cellular connectivity. The internals of this notebook would feature 2/4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 32/64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. The screen resolution of the display is 1366×768 pixels resolution. The laptop will feature dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth.
A China-based Bluebank Communication Technology company is already in work for the development and manufacturing of this affordable 4G laptop. The same Chinese-manufacturer worked on KaiOS, the popular OS used on JioPhone. The laptop is in the Engineering Validation Test stage for the moment. Jio OS is the skin that may run on top of the Android operating system on JioBook.
This decision from Jio is similar to their feature phone, where the JioPhone is running on KaiOS. The other connectivity features in the Jio’s laptop are a mini HDMI connector for video output, a three-axis accelerometer, and a Qualcomm audio chip. There is a high chance that Jio will pre-install their apps into the laptop. The apps are JioMeet, JioPages, JioStore, JioCinema, JioSaavn, and many more.
Expected Price and Launch Date
The pricing for the upcoming affordable 4G laptop from Jio may start from Rs. 9,999. There is a high chance that there will be two different storage variants for the JioBook. Jio stepping into the laptop area is not a bad idea as many users across the world are relying on these devices.
Many users are using them for online classes, work from home, and attending video calls. The JioBook might launch well after the Engineering Validation Test and there is no specific launch date as of now. Some reports are suggesting that the device will launch at the end of this year.
