If you are constantly following tech news, you might have heard of Huawei overtaking Apple to become the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. Even before the waves of the same settle, they have come forward with the launch dates of their next generation flagship devices.

At IFA 2018, the company unveiled Mate 20 Lite with dual camera setups on both the front and the back. As their media invite teaser has become public, we could know that they are conducting an event in London on October 16. Most probably, we will see Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro live on the action there.

You know Mate series is Huawei’s flagship lineup to cope up with other industry leaders. The company has already become second for the number of phones they sold. In this news piece, you will see all the available and almost confirmed rumors about Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro.

At IFA 2018, the company has unveiled Kirin 980, which is their flagship processor made out of 7 nm manufacturing process. In case you haven’t heard of any other 7 nm SoCs yet, it is because Kirin 980 is the first of its kind. Comparing to the previous generation 10 nm process, the 7 nm process brings 40 percent more efficiency and 20 percent chipset performance to the table.

Looking at the teaser, we can confirm that the chipset powering the new devices will be 980. They have even highlighted the abbreviation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the poster. Rumour is that the devices will not only have AI capabilities for the camera but for user interface also.

A recent rumor suggests a regular notch design with a 3D face scanner on the Pro edition and a water drop notch on the regular device. Moreover, the Mate 20 Pro’s leaked prototype reveals curved edges whereas Mate 20’s does flat screen with small bezels around the four sides.

Digging deep into the speculated features, both the devices will run on EMUI 9.0 based on Android Pie 9.0. Chances are the company will include an in-display fingerprint scanner in Mate 20 Pro. We don’t think we will see the same on Mate 20. The rumored battery capacity of Mate 20 is 4200 mAh and it could support wireless charging as well. Triple camera setup (like on P20 Pro) is another possible specification, which could find its way to the handset.

To recall, the first device in the lineup Mate 20 Lite packs in Kirin 710 SoC and runs on Android 8.1-based EMUI.
