How to Track your Lost Android Phone Using IMEI Number

What is your Android smartphone gets lost or it is stolen?  How will you track the device or find it?  Here is a small part which will guide you to find your device in many ways, also including the device using the IMEI number.

How to Find your IMEI Number:

Below are the places where you could find the IMEI number of your device:

  1. On the purchase bill you got with the device.
  2. On the box of the device
  3. It is marked and written on the battery that cubes with the device.
  4. Dial *#06# in the phone app, the IMEI number of the device is displayed on the screen.

METHOD 1: Tracking lost mobile using Google

This method specifically does not help to Track your Android phone using the IMEI number of the device but using the Location Access,  i.e.  GPS. So follow the steps

  1. First you have to make sure whether the device has the Latin access switched on. If it was off then this method cannot actually work.
  2. Now Google keeps a track of every device, and you can perform many things in case your device is lost.
  3. So log on to device manager website and log in with your Google account which you have been using on the device.

  4. Now here you will see the options to Track your device. It will show you the real time location of the device.
  5. Not only this you can lock the device remotely. Set a password or also change the password of your device.
  6. It also gives you an option to remotely erase all your data on the device, so that your personal data does not get in wrong hands.

So this was a method to stumpy find your list or stolen phone using the Android Device Manager.

Method 2: Lodge a Police complaint

This method uses the IMEI number and tracking the device through it. You need to lodge a police complaint and then put your IMEI number in the search process. And then whenever the person changes the SIM card type device would be tracked by the use of IMEI number. But the probability of this method to work and find your phone is low as the police generally in very rare cases track your phone, unless it is if high priority.

Method 3: Using Anti virus or Anti Theft Applications

This method generally doesn’t help you find your phone but it really does help you prevent your phone from getting in wrung hands and blocks it. You should be using a premium anti virus Software. Whenever the SIM is changed the anti virus will block the phone and ask for password, so this would prevent your device from getting in wrong hands.

      Your device IMEI will never change no matter how many times it is formatted. You should contact the nearest police station. They have tools to track the IMEI number. If your device is switched on, they can easily track the device using IMEI number.

        Sir, i lost my oppo phone day before yesterday and tried to make a complaint in police station but they are asking for the mobile box or proof for purchase. I ve only imei number. I am a student and my personal data are there in the phone. The store which I have purchased didn’t have the details as they retain only 1 year data in their server. I have collected stored so many data from various sources related to my studies and i am blank now.     I just read an old article of EWN’s about tracking/tracing a cellphone using the IMEI number of the phone. What the article doesn’t mention is that when you report your phone stolen to the South African Police, they insist on a blacklist number which you obtain from your mobile service provider. The reason for this is that they cannot register a case as their CAS(Crime Administration System) system won’t accept the complaint of theft of the phone unless this number is inserted. Now comes the catch-22. If you blacklist the phone, in other words block the IMEI number, you cannot trace the phone as you need this number. The phone basically becomes a paper weight and is useless to anyone. So, my question is, How do you trace the phone with the IMEI number if the phone is blacklisted? Further, if no case is opened because you have no blacklisting number, then no investigation will take place!!! So what do you do? These cases invariably don’t get investigated anyway because you can’t trace the phone, and the docket gets filed as “Undetected”. And now for the best part. There is software online which enables you to change the IMEI number of a phone. So the whole tracing thing falls flat.
