Honor View 20 Introduced with 48 MP Back Camera and In-Display Front Camera

Abhishek Jariwala • Updated December 11, 2018 • 3 min read •

Honor, the subsidiary company from Huawei, has just announced their latest Honor V series smartphone. This upcoming smartphone is to be named the Honor View. Last year, Honor released the Honor View 10 or V10 which was the first smartphone in this series. We now have some of the details regarding the smartphone even though the Honor View is not released to the public just yet. The official announcement of the Honor View will be done on December 22 in China.

Samsung has already beaten Honor in releasing the first smartphone with an in-display camera. Galaxy A8s just got released yesterday by Samsung with an Infinity-O display which means Honor View 20 is not the first smartphone with an in-display camera anymore. In retaliation, Honor has decided to create hype around the View by giving a sneak-peek on its upcoming smartphone. We now have some of the details regarding the Honor View as the company has not revealed the entire specifications just yet.

The Honor View should have a display size of 6.2-inch or bigger. Also, the smartphone will have a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and almost 100% screen-to-body ratio according to Honor. This is thanks to the presence of front camera inside the display on Honor View. Another highlight of this smartphone is its rear camera. The Honor View is all set to become the first smartphone powered by Android with a 48 MP rear camera.

Also, Honor View will become the first smartphone to feature Sony IMX586, the first Sony sensor which supports a 48 MP lens. Obviously, Honor View comes with Huawei’s in-house SoC. Honor View comes powered by HiSilicon Kirin 980 flagship SoC from Huawei. Honor has also announced a new feature coming to the Honor View. Link turbo is the latest addition from Honor on their upcoming smartphone. Basically, Link Turbo lets you use your smartphone’s WiFi and Mobile Data at the same time. This way, you no longer need to suffer in poor connectivity areas.

We also believe that the Honor View will have GPU Turbo gaming mode inside it. With this mode, the smartphone’s performance gets a boost to produce high frame rates while gaming. To know more about the Honor View in terms of pricing and availability, we need to wait till December 22.

Honor View Specifications (Expected)

  • 6.2-inch Full HD+ display at 19.5:9 aspect ratio
  • 7nm Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC
  • 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 rear camera
  • In-display front camera
  • GPU Turbo gaming technology
  • ~100% screen-to-body ratio
