Nokia was out of the business for some time and they came back under HMD Global with a few offerings. Among the new Android phones Nokia brought to the market, Nokia 8 is their flagship device. The company has been working on a successor to the Nokia 8 now.
Dubbed as Nokia 9, the smartphone will have some exciting features that accompany it. Going by the rumours, HMD Global will be conducting an event in China on January 19 to launch Nokia 9 and the next generation Nokia 8.
Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 2018 Edition Launch Set for January 19
You should bear in mind that the company hasn’t made anything official yet. A Chinese website reported HMD Global’s plan to conduct the launch event in January.
Last month, several online media reported about a protective case of Nokia 9, which leaked almost the entire build. The Chinese website (MyDrivers) also stated that the devices that hit the Chinese market wouldn’t have Google services, but the local counterparts. Moreover, HMD will also offer a custom ROM to match the preferences of the Chinese customers.
According to the speculations, Nokia 9 will come with a 5.5-inch QHD display. They may release the device in two storage variants; 64 GB and 128 GB. Nevertheless, the RAM remains the same in both the versions, which is 6 GB. Given Nokia 9 is HMD’s flagship, we can’t expect anything less than Snapdragon 835.
The protective case leaked online indicates the device might come with a curved display just like Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. And, we can spot a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner along with a dual camera setup. We also hope it will have USB Type-C port and Android Oreo out of the box.
When it comes to the pricing, they might price the 64 GB variant at CNY 3699 (around Rs. 35965) and the 128 GB variant at CNY 4199 (around 40826).
When it comes to the next iteration of Nokia 8, we don’t think it will include any new significant feature (storage, RAM or chipset). Chances are it will have an 18:9 display, IP67 certification, and still come at the same price (Rs. 36999).
In 2017, we have seen even Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL hitting the market without a 3.5 mm audio jack. Some reports say both Nokia 9 and Nokia 8 2018 edition will not come with a headphone jack.
If the Chinese launch event happens on January 19 as per the reports, we can see them bringing the device to other markets within the next few months.
