Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatches have officially launched globally in a variety of models; also in an exclusive Michael Kors branded variant. The watches come in two different size variants such as 42mm and 44mm dial sizes; under the hood features a Snapdragon chipset. The chipset used on the smartwatch from Snapdragon is specifically designed for wearable devices.
The newly launched Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches come with the Wear OS 2 software which is an older version when compared to the new version found on the Galaxy Watch 4 series. Google has announced the Wear OS 3 version this year along with Samsung’s Watch 4 series. Besides, Fossil has stated that its watches will receive the Wear OS 3 update in 2022.
Fossil Gen 6 Smartwatch Specifications
The Gen 6 smartwatch sports a 1.28-inch Color AMOLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 416×416 pixels and a 326ppi of Pixel Density. Around the watch, Fossil has given a circular dial on both the 42mm and 46mm sizes that is functional to navigate on the watch. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 4100+ powers the smartwatch that ensures a faster UI response; in comparison to the predecessor.
Fossil is boasting the new chipset from Snapdragon to provide up to 30 percent increased performance and consumes less power when compared to the Fossil Gen 5. The storage provided on the Gen 6 smartwatch is 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Also, the smartwatch comes with a speakerphone and mic that enables users to receive and speak on calls directly from the watch.
On the senors front, the watch features a SpO2 sensor; that gives an accurate measurement of the blood oxygen saturation levels. The watch can even measure the heart rate and features other tracking options for the users. The tracking options of the watch include a calories tracker, activity tracker, and different sport modes. The watch comes with in-built Google Assistant support.
There are few additional features such as social watch faces, calendar alerts, smartphone notifications, and control for smart home devices. Speaking of the connectivity options, the watch comes with Bluetooth v5, GPS, NFC SE, and Wi-Fi support.
The device supports a magnetic charging system with a dock that can charge the smartwatch up to 80% in 30 minutes. The Gen 6 watch provides a battery backup of over 24 hours with a provided extended mode.
Price and Availability
The Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch series starts at $299 or Rs. 21,900 approx. in the United States. The pre-orders have already begun in the US and the stainless steel version of the watch is priced at $319 or Rs. 23,300.
Fossil is even bringing silicone, leather, and stainless steel replaceable bands starting at $29 to $49 price range. The color options of the Gen 6 include Smoke Stainless Steel, Brown Leather, Green Camo Grosgrain, and Gold+Purple.
