Apple Doubles Find My Network’s Supported Devices: Now Tracks Up to 32 Gadgets

Chandan Pandit • Updated January 16, 2024 • 2 min read •

Find My Network on Apple gadgets is one of the most useful features for users. It helps the user to track the items and comes in handy when they are lost or forgotten. Previously, there was a cap on the number of supported devices for the Find My Device feature. The user can add up to 16 supported devices. But now, the brand has reportedly increased the number of supported devices from 16 to 32. That’s 2X of what we had previously.

Apple increases the number of supported devices for Find My Network

First spotted by an X user Nicolas Alveraz, it’s been officially confirmed via the Apple Support document that the Find My Network features now allow its user to add as many as 32 devices. The increased limit applies to almost all compatible devices such as Apple AirTags, headphones, MagSafe wallets and even some third-party-based Find My Network gadgets like e-bikes.

Further, it’s very important to note that some of the gadgets or accessories count as multiple gadgets. For example, the second-generation Apple AirPods as multiple gadgets because they come with the ability to track the charging case and earbuds separately. On the other hand, the first-generation AirPods count as one because they can’t track earbuds and charging cases separately.

The document didn’t specifically highlight the reasons for taking this step, and there hasn’t been any official announcement regarding the same. They choose the silently update the number of supported devices for the Find My feature. However, this could be very well because of the users reaching the previously limited numbers very early and because of the limitations, they were unable to add some more devices.

The average number of added devices in the Find My feature has grown significantly, especially after the introduction of Apple AirTags. The newly updated limit finally allows its user to add more devices to the Find My feature. The brand has taken a commendable step, especially considering that nowadays, even some third-party accessories and gadgets come with support for the Find My feature.

For now, they have not made any other changes to the feature. All the other functionalities, such as adding devices to the list, tracking them, or removing them, remain unchanged. The only modification at the moment is the positive change to the supported gadgets’ updated limit.
