Dual WiFi Technology Will Let You Connect to Two WiFi Networks Simultaneously

Rahul Krishnan • Updated July 20, 2019 • 3 min read • Leave a Comment

No one can stand a slow internet connection. And it always cheer us to see an increase in the network speed. Many tips are available online to slightly increase the speed of your wireless network. However, none seem to have any significant effect.

Oppo and Vivo have come out to make your wireless connection more reliable. They both independently released dual wifi technology to connect to two networks at the same time. Of course, we know they are the subsidiaries of the same company (BBK Electronics).

Oppo and Vivo Revealed Dual WiFi Technology

Oppo and Vivo were once focusing on the selfie cameras to woo ordinary users under sub 20K INR segment. As the names lost the strangeness, they began manufacturing flagship models despite having OnePlus under the same umbrella. We got to see some innovative features first on the smartphones from BBK Electronics.

They have uploaded a couple of videos on the Chinese social network Weibo, depicting how the feature works. Oppo was quick enough to surface with the video first. In it, we can see an Oppo Reno 10x Zoom using the dual wifi feature to connect to two networks of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz at the same time.

Going by the result from the Oppo’s video, the stability and speed have increased on the phone leveraging the special feature. A side-by-side comparison between two phones (one using the feature and one without) reveals the former tend to have 322% more speed than the latter.

Before the video finishes wooing us, Vivo came up with their own version. The company demonstrated the feature on iQOO phones. Unlike the video uploaded by Oppo, they did a number of online activities. It isn’t surprising to see the phone connected to two wireless networks carrying out tasks much faster.

The feature hasn’t found its way to the regular phone units yet. The efficiency with which you can do every online activity will surely increase. For gamers, it would certainly decrease the latency.

We will surely see Oppo and Vivo launching their flagship models with dual wifi technology. Of course, it isn’t new. Many use an app called Speedify to combine both wireless and cellular connections to boost the network speed. And, having the same without using any applications to connect to two wireless networks is something new here.

To recall, Vivo has released S1 smartphone recently and looking forward to launching Z5 soon. The fact that two companies coming with this feature may force other manufacturers to implement this on their phones as well.
