Almost every smartphone user in India knows the name Jio. The Mukesh Ambani helmed new entrant network took the Indian telecom field by storm.
It seems like the younger brother of Reliance Family wants to dominate another industry. As a part of the plan, Reliance Communications have revamped their movie streaming service, Bigflix.
Recently, the company has made some significant announcements about the functioning and the new pricing structure.
Bigflix Will Offer their Service at Rs.50 per Month
Bigflix, being one of the pioneers in video-on-demand service (as diverged from the Reliance family) has about 3.9 million users (claimed by the company). The video-on-demand service from Reliance didn’t flourish as it was expected to be, due to the lack of internet infrastructure.
Now that Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hotstar entered the Indian market and proved the streaming has a scope here, Bigflix aims at grabbing a fraction of their customers too.
The new version hasn’t yet been available to the customers. But once it comes out, anyone can subscribe to it no matter where they reside in. You have to pay a monthly fee of Rs. 50/ $1.99. They offer the first month for free as a trial period.
The service offers five user profiles. Means you can simultaneously stream movies to five different devices from the same account.
Even though we have a few video streaming services available here in India, Bigflix feels that there is a void in the home video market which they can fill.
The new version will have over 2000 titles in different languages including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Punjabi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Bengali, and Bhojpuri. Moreover, the company has managed to seal deals with Disney, Dharma, Viacom, Phantom, Rajshri, and Telugu One.
Once it goes live, you will see Kai Po Che, PK, Haider, Fitoor, Wazir, etc. Apparently, the names shared here are only a fraction of what comes on their website.

On the contrary to the similar name holder Netflix does, Bigflix only has movies. Bigflix and Amazon Prime Video come on top as we take the price into consideration. Amazon costs you 499 INR per year and Bigflix, 500. Yeah, you will get Rs. 100 discount for annual subscriptions.
You can stream movies from Bigflix on your computer, smartphone, smart TV, and gaming console. It also allows you to download the content too.
You might already know that Jio entered the same market with their JioCinema app last year. So, are you using any premium streaming services? Will you switch to Bigflix? Why?
