As the Redmi engrossed the Indian market, Asus’s ZenFone lineup lived in oblivion for quite some time. The limelight returned to the company when they had chosen to embrace value for money. Max Pro M1 along with ZenFone 5Z proved to be an exception of their track record.
The company is launching the successor to Max Pro M1 today. We will also see a low-end variant Max M2 in the event. The Taiwanese company conducted a global launch in Russia a few days ago. So, we hope we know the specifications. They may not alter the features as the phone makes its way to India.
Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2 and Max M2 Launching in India
Asus has challenged the monopoly of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro by releasing Max Pro M1. The one department where the Note 5 Pro stutters, camera, Asus took it to the next level. Not only did it present superior optics, but on-par performance as well.
Looking at the spec sheet, Max Pro M2 features a 6.3-inch full HD+ (1080×2280) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. You will also see a notch (seems like mandatory in 2018). Under the hood, you will get Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage.
For the optics, it bears a dual camera setup on the back featuring a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel secondary sensor. For some reason, the company has trimmed down the megapixel count for the selfie camera from 8 to 5 megapixel. We should see whether or not it excels the previous generation. You will also get a massive 5000 mAh battery.
Along with all the usual connectivity options, you will get a 3.5-mm headphone jack and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
The Max M2, on the other hand, is an upgrade to the Max M1, Asus launched in October. The dual SIM device sports a 6.3-inch HD+ display. Beneath the hood, it carries a Snapdragon 632 chipset along with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB onboard storage.
On the optics front, it has a dual camera setup with a 13 MP primary sensor and a 2 MP depth sensor. The selfie camera bears an 8 MP sensor for video calling and selfie shots. The battery capacity is 4000 mAh for this model.
The Russian price for Max Pro M2 is RUB 17,990 (around Rs. 19,500) whereas the Max M2 wears the price tag of RUB 12,990 (roughly Rs. 14,000). In Russia, the phones are up for pre-orders. And, those who pre-orders receive a JBL Tuner speaker and a pair of Asus FonMate headphones.
