Asus has been out from the talks of gadget enthusiasts for a while. But they want to grab their own space in the industry and don’t want to give up to the Chinese outrush happening now.
The company launched four new smartphones dubbed as ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 4 Pro, ZenFone 4 Max, ZenFone 4 Max Pro along with the two (ZenFone 4 Selfie and ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro), which we already saw on their website.
ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 4 Pro Launched
Xiaomi’s massive success has got to the bones of all the companies, it seems. They all want to grab the market now with their mid-range chipsets and ironically, don’t want to compromise on the pricing either. Same is the case with the new ZenFones as well.
While the two phones listed on their websites sport dual front cameras, the new ZenFone 4 and 4 Pro features dual front cameras. Obviously, they want to capture the minds of selfie buffs as well.
Both the smartphones resemble in many departments. The 5.5-inch displays have a full HD panel covered by 2.5D Gorilla Glass. They have a unibody aluminum design and features two nano SIM slots. The fingerprint scanner sits at the bottom of the screen on the home screen.
The primary sensor on the dual camera setup is the same for both devices as well; a 12 megapixel Sony IMX362 sensor with a size of 1/2.55. They also support PDAF (phase detection autofocus), OIS (optical image stabilization) and EIS (electrical image stabilization). The Pro version gets laser autofocus and fixed focus as additional features for the camera.
When it comes to the secondary sensor, ZenFone 4 has an 8 MP sensor whereas 4 Pro has a 2x optical zoom lens with Sony IMX251 sensor. For the front cameras, the inferior version gets an 8 MP sensor and the Pro has the same megapixel count for the sensor but it comes from Sony.
ZenFone 4 comes in two variants; Snapdragon 660 SoC and 4GB RAM, apart from a Snapdragon 630 SoC and 6GB RAM. You can expand the storage using an external SD card up to 2 TB! Nonetheless, the dual SIM might prevent someone from taking advantage of the mammoth SD card support.
On the other hand, ZenFone 4 Pro has got Snapdragon 835 underneath the hood coupled with 6 GB RAM. You can buy either the 64 GB storage variant or the 128 GB one.
The battery capacity remains slight different in both the phones; 3300 mAh for regular and 3600 mAh for Pro.
The price for ZenFone 4 starts from $399 (Rs. 26,000) and that for 4 Pro begins from $599 (Rs. 38000).
The launch event happened in Taiwan and the company didn’t announce the release date for other markets.
