Apple has launched a new replacement program for AirPods Pro earbuds. The company has confirmed that a small percent of AirPods Pro units may be faulty and could be experiencing audio-related issues. Apple has introduced a specific service program for these affected users, wherein it will offer free replacement.
The company has confirmed that a small percent of AirPods Pro units may be faulty and could be experiencing audio-related issues. These affected units are said to be manufactured before October 2020. This means all AirPods Pro units sold all through last year fall in this bracket.
The tech giant has published a dedicated page on its support site announcing the new replacement program is specifically for the AirPods Pro. The program covers all the affected AirPods Pro for two years after the first retail sale of the unit.
What’s the Issue with AirPods Pro?
According to the company, the affected AirPods Pro may exhibit one or more of the following behaviors.
- A crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise, or while talking on the phone
- Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise
Moreover, the company clearly noted that no other AirPods models are part of this program. Also, the case of the earbuds is not affected and will not be replaced.
How to Replace Your AirPods Pro
To get your AirPods Pro replaced you need to find an Apple Authorized Service Provider. Then your device will be examined prior to any service to verify if your earbuds are eligible for the program or not. If yes, then the service center will replace the earbuds or fix it, whichever is applicable for free.
Additionally, the worldwide program doesn’t extend the standard warranty coverage of the earbuds. And If you have questions or need further assistance, please contact Apple Support.
To recall you, in January Apple offered free Free Replacement of Faulty Smart Battery Cases of iPhone XS, iPhone XR, and iPhone XS Max.
The company claimed that few faulty Smart Battery Cases were sold last year. These cases may be causing the charging issue to buyers. If your Smart Battery case hasn’t been working as it should, then it’s worth checking if you have a device that’s eligible for the replacement.
