Unfortunately, this new update didn’t come with a release note which means there’s no information regarding new features in the latest Beta updates. However, the iOS 16.6 and iPadOS 16.6 versions don’t feature any major changes. As the tech giant has turned all of its focus to the upcoming latest version of iOS 17 and wraps up iOS 16 in the coming days.
As per some reports, iOS 16.6 has introduced a new feature called iMessage Contact Key Verification that aims to provide enhanced security for Apple users. It’s still uncertain whether the feature is functional or not after the new update. Users can check out this feature if they have updated their device to the latest Beta build. There’s a new option provided in the Settings app called iMessage Contact Key verification that will protect users from severe digital threats.
Although the iOS 16.6 didn’t have any major updates, the previous version, the iOS 16.5 public beta had a few changes. These include new Pride wallpapers and the merge of the Following and Search tabs in Apple News onto the same section. Furthermore, Apple has introduced a new Sports tab in the News that keeps users updated on their favorite sports teams.
In the previous update, Apple has even removed a few of the bugs like the content not loading on Apple CarPlay, Screen Time settings menu issue, and an issue regarding the Spotlight feature. Any developer that enrolled their device in the Beta program can easily update to this new update. They can download this latest beta version by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
